freefem3d software package provides Language and solver for partial differential equations in 3D, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install freefem3d
freefem3d is installed in your system.
Make ensure the freefem3d package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep freefem3d *
You will get with freefem3d package name, version, architecture and description in a table
